Process for obtaining FSSAI Certification

Determine License Type

Identify whether your business requires Basic Registration, State License, or Central License based on annual turnover and business activities.

Collect and prepare all required documents including identity proof, address proof, business registration documents, and food safety management plan.

Application Submission

Submit the completed application form (Form-B) along with all required documents through the FOSCOS portal.

Application Processing

The FSSAI authority reviews the application and may conduct an inspection of the premises if required.

License Issuance

Upon satisfactory review and inspection, the FSSAI license is issued with a unique 14-digit registration/license number.

Validity of FSSAI Certification

License Duration

FSSAI license/registration is valid for 1 to 5 years as chosen by the applicant at the time of application. The license can be renewed within 30 days before its expiry date.

Renewal Process

License renewal application should be submitted at least 30 days before expiry. Late renewal may attract a penalty fee of ₹100 per day after expiry.

Modification

Any changes in business details require modification of the FSSAI license. This includes change in address, ownership, or product categories.
